Candid shot of Bridgette's shower, 2013. |
WELCOME TO MY SHOWER! I was trying to think of a fun way to mini review a few new shower products I'd purchased. I'd watched a few of these 'what's in my shower' posts on youtube and thought they were a bit weird. Yet for some reason I continued to watch more. There's something satisfying about sticking you nose in other people's showers, vanities, makeup collection, draws etc! I've recently picked up a couple of newer products and wanted to do a mini review now that I've used them for a week.
The two new products I've picked up are: The L'Oreal EverPure Volumising Shampoo and Conditioner and the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Cleansing and Makeup Removal Fluid for face and eyes.
L'Oreal EverPure
I bought this product for two main reasons 1) Sulfate-free and 2) Volumising! I have quite a sensitive scalp (lucky me) and find that a lot of shampoos irritate it. So, I've been searching for a cheaper shampoo and conditioner that wouldn't cause my head to react. I've concluded that it's almost positively the sulfates that I react to. The last shampoo and conditioner I picked up had sulfates in it and I was -dun dun dun- reacting to them so I was looking for a replacement.
Essentially, EveryPure is a range for colour-treated hair that aims to use more natural products. They're sulfate free and, from what I can see, paraben free (though, they don't advertise that so there may be one hiding in there). They have a few different types: moisturising, volumising, curl taming etc. The whole range has a lovely Rosemary and Juniper scented shampoo and Rosemary and Mint scented conditioner, which is nice! The conditioners scent is left in your for a couple of hours after washing. This is something that I love, personally. When my hair smells like my shampoo I feel like it's squeaky clean. There's a whole load of fancy reasons why rosemary, juniper and mint are supposed to moisturise and cleanse the hair, according to the back of the bottle, but mostly I just think it smells nice.
The shampoo lathers up really easily and evenly which is something I really look for. I have fine hair, but a lot of it and I find a lot of shampoos lather up but you cant move the bubbles around on your head. Then you get that situation where a patch of your head isn't foamy.
The conditioner smooths through the hair easily and detangles. It also Is quite lightweight, so my hair doesn't feel weighed down or greasy.
I don't know if I've noticed anything volumising about them. But they certainly don't weigh my hair down.
La Roche-Posay Toleriane Cleansing and Makeup Removal Fluid
I wanted something to replace my Michael Todd Honey and Oat cleanser when it runs out and was hoping this would be the one. Let's clear the air now: It's not the one. However, I am really enjoying it. The Toleriane is really great at breaking down mascara and foundation. Unfortunately, because of the rich, milky texture, it's not very good at then washing it off your face. You really need to cleanse the makeup off with this, then use another product to wash the Toleriane off. The first two times I used it, I cleansed my skin twice (once to get off the makeup, rinse, second to cleanse) then jumped out the shower expecting to look fresh faced and looking more like a sad, drenched panda. I suppose because it's so moisturising, it doesn't really pull off the face.
So yeah, I love it for taking off my makeup... but then I have to use either the Michael Todd Honey Oat or the Lush Let the Good Times Roll to cleanse a second time.
Clinique 7 day scrub cream & Lush Let the Good Times Roll
I use both these products to exfoliate my skin dependant on the harshness of exfoliant I want.
The 7 day scrub is like a thick balm with sand in it. It's very harsh but something I love if my skin is feeling dry or breaking out.
Let the Good Times Roll is a product I use if my skin is looking dull. After I use this I just feel happy. It smells amazing, my skin feels smooth and moisturised and looks a little brighter!
Original Source Vanilla and Raspberry Body Wash
I want to eat this. It smells like strawberry milkshakes! It lathers lovely and is fairly moisturising. I just love all the washes Original Source make! It all smells amazing and is eco-friendly. Bonus!
I've also picked up a set of the L'Oreal EverCreme moisture system shampoo and conditioner. I'm going to give it a go next week and report back on which one I like better!
Do you like any of these products? Do you recommend others? Let me know!
Toleriene sounds perfect for me, every single makeup wipe I try is horrible so I'm binning that idea and every packet I have (about 29) have you tried the lush volumising shampoo and conditioner would love to know what that's like. Have used dermaveen shampoo for years and still love it no itchy head or back yay, that's worse than scalp the itchy back thing. Xxx
