Top 5 LUSH products!

LUSH cosmetics is a company that I have grown to know and trust. The company strives to produce "effective products from fresh* organic* fruit and vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetics." (lush.com.au, 2013) Growing up, I was intstilled with the outlook that using natural products that mother nature has provided is a safer and smarter way of living (thanks mum). That, and I had very sensitive skin growing up, and still do, so using harsh, cheap chemicals was not an option.

Since then I have always had an interest in choosing products that I know as natural as possible for both myself and the earth. I know, I'm not doing much. But doing something is better than doing nothing.

In the last year or so I've returned to LUSH over and over again because of their fabulous customer service, environmental conscientiousness and actually AMAZING products. So, I thought today I'd talk about some of my favourite products! I have five pictured but I'll mention a few others that I don't have in stock at the moment.

 Ro's Argan Body Conditioner:
First off, I just want to start by saying this product smells incredible. It smells like strawberry yoghurt and argan oil... I realise that sounds disgusting but it's not. It just smells creamy and sweet and lovely. Think of this product as the conditioner step in your hair care regimen. You strip your hair of all the oils and grease with shampoo and then you replace the nutrients and hydration with conditioner. This is essentially the same process for your skin. After you've washed rub this over your body, leave it on for a minute or two then rinse. It hydrates your skin and leaves it feeling really moist and supple (Two words I hate but are essential descriptive words here! :( ).

Considering the price tag, I only tend to use this if my skin is feeling particularly dry or if I'm going somewhere fancy the next day and want to look a million bucks. If I was made of money I would probably use this every night.

Ro's Argan Body Conditioner & Let The Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser
Eau Roma Water Toner:
This is a product I picked up recently because I'd been reading up about all the benefits of Rose Water. It's supposed to be great at calming the skin, awakening the skin and removing bacteria. To read more click here. This toner has a mixture of rose and lavender water to aid hydration and combat redness. I can't say I've seen much for anti-redness but I can say it has quickly jumped to a favourite for a reason. It's feels amazing and calming on the skin but at the same time really perks you up! A woman at my local Lush also said that it can be used over your makeup as well throughout the day to moisturise and pep the skin. I've done this once or twice too and with good results.

What I like most about this toner and the Michael Todd toner is that they don't have alcohol in them. Most toners available at Target and Priceline and even more expensive brands like Clinique, are alcohol based. This is probably the worst on the skin, even for people with oily skin. It strips the skin, and dehydrates. For people with dry skin this can cause flaking, redness and soreness. For people with oily skin it can cause the body to over compensate and produce extra oils starting a vicious oily cycle.

This is another product I've picked up recently because of raving reviews about tea tree oil for zits. Exam stress really did me in this semester and I had far more blemishes then usual. I was just going to pick up some tea tree oil but I did some reading and saw that the Lush Grease Lightning had some other ingredients to aid blemishes. It's supposed to have rosemary, thyme, aloe, Witch Hazel and sea salt... combined they are supposed to combat bacteria, scarring and hydration.

In the week I've had this it has shot to the top of my favourites. It dried up those suckers and helped to smooth out my skin! A total winner!

The last two products I'll speak about briefly because they're both limited edition.
This isn't nessecarily a rave about the popcorn flavour of the lipscrub but more about the product. I use this every time I wear lipsticks, having a dry lip day or my lips are just in need of a little pamper. I love the popcorn flavour though because sweet and savoury and I LOVE popcorn!

FABULOUS NEWS! This is in stock for the Christmas in July sale! I'm going to have to buy some more because I have been rationing this stuff like it's gold. This is one of my favourite cleansers because it's all round pleaser. It's got polenta to use as an exfoliator, glycerin and corn oil which is both moisturising, and Gardenia powder for anti-bacteria. Smells amazing! LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

Honourable Mentions:
This is a treatment you're supposed to be able to use from root to tip to create volume and revitalise drab hair. I've only had a sample of this but I loved it. I'm very keen to pick up the full size of this.
This is a treatment aim specifically for blonde hair. I've had one tub of this and I really enjoyed it. I found it made my hair look super shiney and less brassy after use. My best friend has repurchased this product numerous times and still loves it.

Do you love Lush products? What are your favourites?

  1. Husband loves the lipbalm, now he rarely uses lipbalm in the day after application in the evening before bed. I get compliments when I wear the stick perfume. I enjoy the bar shampoo leaves your hair silky and shiney is not drying at all which was what I was afraid of, THE BEST for travelling. But I think the thing I liked best but never bought was the body bar moisturiser, so pissed I missed out on that ( valentines limited ed ) .
